Metalloinvest helps towns where it operates to prepare for the school year
Metalloinvest provided the vital support to ensure the successful start of the new academic year to the towns where the Company operates, namely Zheleznogorsk, Gubkin, Stary Oskol and Novotroitsk.
Targeted assistance in the amount of over 450 mn roubles was provided to over 115 educational institutions, from kindergartens and schools to colleges and universities. The Company purchased school supplies for 7,000 children and provided assistance to families with low income and experiencing hardship in preparation for the academic year.
Scheduled works are underway to open new sports facilities, parks and playgrounds, and upgrade existing ones as part of Metalloinvest’s socio-economic partnerships with the respective administrations of the regions and towns where the Company operates.
Julia Mazanova, Social Policy and Corporate Communications Director at Management Company Metalloinvest, said: "By helping develop sports and leisure infrastructure for children, we are investing in the future of our towns, which are our common home and our most important asset. As new technologies are introduced and heavy industry undergoes digitalisation, the demand for highly qualified specialists grows. By investing in the creation of comfortable environments in our towns, we create attraction points for a new generation of employees and prepare today's pupils and students for the modern requirements of the labour market."
In Stary Oskol and Novotroitsk, at the initiative of OEMK and Ural Steel, respectively, the bulk of funds were allocated towards the preparation of educational institutions, including branches of NITU MISiS, the Ordzhonikidze Russian State University and Novotroitsk Technological College, which are all vital for the enterprises.
A notable event for all of Zheleznogorsk, including for the employees of Mikhailovsky GOK, was the opening of the Quantorum children's education centre, where one can learn the basics of programming, smart device management, website development and 3D design. Metalloinvest allocated over 15 mn roubles to equip the technology park.
In Gubkin, the newly reconstructed town park has become a new attraction point for sports and leisure for its younger and older residents alike. Thanks to assistance from Lebedinsky GOK, alleys were reconstructed, new walkways were created, and lighting, warning systems, video surveillance and Wi-Fi were installed.
Metalloinvest’s volunteers played a particularly important role ahead of 1st September, the first day of the school year, helping low-income and large families in the cities where the Company operates by providing them with all necessary supplies for the new school year. The social campaign is run annually as part of Metalloinvest's "Respond!” corporate volunteering programme.back to news list
