Metalloinvest supported the town of Zheleznogorsk (Kursk region) in its nominating the Nikitin Town Park reconstruction project for the fourth All-Russian competition of the best projects for creating comfortable urban environments. The project took first place and will receive federal funding in the amount of 95 mn roubles.
By the end of 2022, the central part of the park and the descent to the lake will be refurbished while the embankment and boat station will be equipped. Employees of Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK were actively involved in preparing the application.
Julia Mazanova, Social Policy and Corporate Communications Director at Management Company Metalloinvest, said: "Earning first place in the competition was the result of the fruitful collaboration of a large, close-knit team. I would like to express particular gratitude to Roman Starovoit, Governor of the Kursk Region, whose invaluable support made this possible. The work we started nearly three years ago to create a new attraction point for the town has entered a new phase. This is a great victory for everyone who is concerned about the future of Zheleznogorsk and strives to create an attractive, modern and comfortable environment for its residents."
Comprehensive efforts to improve the 70-hectare park began in 2017 with financial support from Metalloinvest. Novaya Zemlya, a company specialising in the integrated development of urban areas, is responsible for the preparation of project documentation and the supervision over its implementation.
During this period, the necessary research and social surveys were conducted, with residents voting on functional and service amenities for the park, documentation was prepared and the park was cleared of undergrowth, shrubs and household waste. Additionally, the fountain was renovated and a sports ground was built.
The cost of the works carried out in 2017-2019 amounted to 50 mn roubles.
In 2020, works are planned to improve the beach and renovate the Summer Theatre in the park. Metalloinvest will allocate 20 mn roubles for these works as part of the socio-economic partnership with the Kursk region and the town of Zheleznogorsk.back to news list
