Metalloinvest helps Zheleznogorsk to prepare for Knowledge Day
Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, and one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, allocated over 30 mn roubles towards the development of educational projects and preparation of schools, kindergartens and the professional education institutions of Zheleznogorsk for the new academic year. This campaign is run annually at the initiative of Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK (part of Metalloinvest).
Metalloinvest funded the installation of an outdoor gym at Gymnasium #1, asphalt surfacing for the stadium running tracks and the construction of a multifunctional sports facility at School #8, repairs of the gym at School #4, equipping the computer room at School #9, providing the new School #14 with all necessary equipment, and replacing windows in several schools. The Company allocated around 17 mn roubles for these activities.
Over 6 mn roubles were allocated for developing the facilities at Polytechnic College and the Mining and Metallurgical Technical College this year.
Pre-schools also did not go unnoticed, with over 5 mn roubles allocated for capital repairs of the catering units at Kindergartens #19 and #14, the façade of Kindergarten #24, and the catering units and tents at Kindergarten #15.
Irina Lyubimova, Deputy Head of the Education Department at Zheleznogorsk’s administration, said: “Metalloinvest provides significant support by preparing education institutions for academic year. The company consistently participates in developing the material base, as well as creating a safe and comfortable development environment.” Ahead of 1st September, Metalloinvest gave targeted support to low-income families with many children, providing 32 families with new tablet computers.
Addressing pupils, Anton Zakharov, Managing Director of Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK, said: “These computers will become your loyal assistants, opening new opportunities in the educational process. May this new academic year be interesting and productive.”
Svetlana Pronina, mother of nine children, of whom five are currently in school, said: “We used two telephones and one computer for remote learning, and we were practically queuing up one after another. This gift will be a great help for us. The children will be able to dedicate more time to their studies.”
On Knowledge Day, all first-year students will receive document bags with a colouring book about Mikhailovsky GOK’s professions and a T-shirt with the Company's logo.back to news list
