Metalloinvest supports construction of children’s sports and leisure facilities in Zheleznogorsk
Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, and one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, supported the construction of a new children’s sports and leisure facility and an outdoor gym in Zheleznogorsk. The Company allocated around 700,000 roubles as part of its socio-economic partnership with the Kursk region and the town of Zheleznogorsk.
The children’s sports and leisure facility is designed for games and outdoor sports activities and includes ladders, benches, swings, a sandbox and a wooden gallery with a slide. This is the fifth modern playground installed in the mining town this summer. Metalloinvest allocated 2.5 mn roubles towards building similar facilities this year.
The installation of sports and leisure facilities in the town’s microdistricts is part of wider works being implemented following appeals from voters to local deputies who are also employees of Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK.
Victor Selivanov, Production Director of Mikhailovsky GOK and a deputy of Zheleznogorsk Town Duma, said: “Systemic work to improve urban areas is one of the most important components of Metalloinvest’s social efforts. I am certain that the new facility will bring joy to the young residents of the microdistrict as their leisure activities will become more interesting and entertaining.”
An outdoor gym has been installed in the courtyard of a residential building for the first time. It consists of horizontal bars of different heights, beams, wall bars and sit-up benches. All sports equipment has been certified and features flexible crumb-rubber coating, providing a safe and comfortable environment for sports activities. The installation of outdoor fitness equipment at Gymnasium #1 and the construction of a multifunctional sports facility, as well as asphalt running track surfacing at School #8 are planned before the end of the year. Overall, Metalloinvest will allocate 4.6 mn roubles towards the construction of these facilities.
