Lebedinsky GOK (part of Metalloinvest) has donated modern medical equipment and PPE necessary for treating patients with COVID-19 to Gubkin Central District Hospital. Metalloinvest allocated 14 mn roubles toward procuring the equipment.

Vladimir Yevdokimov, Social Programmes Director at Lebedinsky GOK, commented: “Unfortunately, coronavirus has not subsided, but we are making every effort to support doctors in Gubkin and the wider region in this struggle. The importance of providing equipment and supplies should not be underestimated. Only once doctors have everything they need are they able to dedicate their efforts to saving lives and improving patients’ health. And this is the greatest priority. COVID-19 is an insidious and dangerous disease, and we will only be able to overcome it by working together.”

The Company procured two blood gas apparatuses, 27 patient monitors, 50 syringe pumps and 5,000 respirators for Gubkin Central District Hospital.

The new equipment is in line with the most advanced developments in medicine. The portable blood gas apparatus allows doctors to promptly run analyses and receive data on a patient’s condition, which is especially important for patients with respiratory tract damage. The syringe pumps can automatically inject a drug dose with high accuracy, while patient monitors are able to track a variety of key heath parameters (including pulse, blood pressure, heart rate etc.), show a cardiogram, promptly indicate the stage of anaesthesia and any mechanical ventilator complications. This enables doctors to quickly and accurately evaluate a patient’s condition, provide a diagnosis, and take any necessary further action.

Irina Krotova, Head Doctor of Gubkin Central District Hospital, noted: “This equipment will be used to successfully treat coronavirus as well as other diseases. This will provide an invaluable support for our doctors and a chance for a speedy recovery for our patients. Our hospital staff is grateful to Metalloinvest, Lebedinsky GOK and the administration of Gubkin for the attention and support provided through this immensely difficult period for us all.”

Earlier in the year, Lebedinsky GOK donated 1.4 mn roubles to the Gubkin Central District Hospital for the purchase of costly medicines for the stationary treatment of patients with COVID-19.

Metalloinvest is implementing a large-scale programme in the total amount of 2 bn roubles to support medical institutions. It is aimed at expanding long-term capacity of the healthcare system and providing hospitals with high-tech equipment, medicines, and PPE.

The support programme covers the medical organisations of Stary Oskol, Gubkin (Belgorod region), Zeleznogorsk (Kursk region) and Novotroitsk (Orenburg region), as well as of regional centres and nearby towns (Kursk, Belgorod, Orenburg and Orsk).
