The winners of the 2019 A.A. Ugarov Prize were honoured at a meeting of the Belgorod Regional Duma. The award was established by the Government of the Belgorod Region and Metalloinvest in 2013 in memory of Alexey Ugarov, former CEO of OEMK, founder of Stary Oskol’s steelmaking school, Honoured Metallurgist of the RSFSR and Honorary Citizen of the Belgorod Region and Stary Oskol.

The award is given to the best specialists in metals and mining, mechanical engineering and chemical production for achievements at work in the preceding year.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, acting Governor of the Belgorod Region, said: "The A.A. Ugarov Prize is the highest prize for Belgorod industrialists. I warmly congratulate all the prize winners. Each of you deserves the kindest words. Thank you for your loyalty and service to the Belgorod region."

Six winners have been chosen for the 2019 award. Tatiana Karpacheva, CEO of Trade and Production Association LLC, and Alexander Kryuchkov, Director of the Production Directorate of Stoilensky GOK, were recognised as winners in the ‘Personal Contribution’ category by the Supervisory Board of the Ugarov Industrial Achievement Fund.

Tatiana Karpacheva noted: "It is a great honour for me to become a recipient of the A.A. Ugarov Prize. I received invaluable lessons in the school of life working under Alexey Ugarov’s guidance. Today, I look up to the Ugarov’s glorious traditions, namely impeccable moral and production standards. Alexey Ugarov’s words – “work on yourself, do not fear responsibility and go forward" – have become my guiding principle.”

The winners in the ‘Industrial Employee of the Year’ category were Roman Malikov, Shaft Furnace Gasman of the pelletisation and metallisation plant at OEMK, and Alexey Gorbotenko, installer of crushing and grinding equipment and of sorting and concentrating equipment of the factory repair workshop of Lebedinsky GOK’s mechanical repair department.

The A.A. Ugarov Prize in the ‘Young Specialist’ category was awarded to Pavel Sitnikov, Tunneller at Korpanga LLC, and Alexander Ronzhin, Lead Process Engineer for Electroslag Melting at the Head Metallurgist Department of Belenergomash-BZEM LLC.

Andrey Ugarov, First Deputy CEO, COO of Management Company Metalloinvest, commented: "This year the A.A. Ugarov Prize has been awarded for the eighth time. Since its inception, 43 specialists have become its recipients, and I am glad that this good tradition has been preserved in this challenging year as well.
