Lebedinsky GOK hosts health and safety fashion show
Events to mark Russia Health and Safety Week 2019 are taking place at all Metalloinvest enterprises in April. Lebedinsky GOK today held a demonstration of corporate workwear and other personal protective equipment. Well-known local clothing producers demonstrated new protective workwear designs which will be available to employees of Lebedinsky GOK, OEMK, Mikhailovsky GOK and Ural Steel in 2019.
The first to present new designs to employees at the enterprise was Nikolay Putilin, Director of Corporate Relations at SOMZ. He presented several types of protective glasses, including open style glasses with mineral or plastic glass and closed glasses with new optic coverage and a corrective effect.
Roman Rusetsky, Head of the Metalloinvest’s Department of Industrial Safety, Labour Protection and the Environment, commented: “Producers of glasses which simultaneously protect and correct eyesight offer their products to responsible employers such as Metalloinvest. The Company implements a programme to purchase these types of glasses for employees with weakened vision. This ensures that they can work comfortably and safely and limits the risk of myopia causing them to neglect industrial health and safety regulations.”
In a catwalk-style format, local enterprise TAIT presented new designs of protective clothing tailored for all Metalloinvest enterprises, including winter and summer clothing sets for employees, reflective suits and vests, and special clothes for services employees. These high-quality items are not only practical and comfortable, but are also visually pleasing, have a nice cut, pleasant colours and clean design.
Yana Tarasenko, Head of Corporate Communications at Lebedinsky GOK, said: “The fashion show is one of Metalloinvest’s events to mark Russia Health and Safety Week 2019. It aims to show employees that personal protective equipment is not boring – this high-tech equipment will protect employees at work. The items purchased by Metalloinvest for employees of its enterprises are modern, high-quality, reliable and fashionable!”.
The large Russian company Energocontract demonstrated new technologies in protective equipment. This workwear combines reliability, comfort, durability and protection from sparks, molten metal splashes and electric arcs. The suits are made of heat-resistant material with a polymer coating which allows sparks and metal splashes to roll off, leaving no trace on the surface of the clothes.
Employees not only gained an idea of how personal protective work clothing will soon be, but could also ask the suppliers questions. After the fashion show, the participants tested their knowledge of personal protective clothing in a quiz and the most engaged participants received prizes.
