The use of advanced technologies throughout the production chain reinforces Metalloinvest’s position as one of the leading international producers of high added value iron ore and steel products.
At Mikhailovsky GOK, Metalloinvest’s enterprise in the Kursk region, the Company began operations at pellet plant #3 in 2015. At Lebedinsky GOK in the Belgorod region, Metalloinvest launched HBI-3 Plant, one of the largest HBI production facilities in the world. By launching new facilities as part of its investment programme, the Company has increased its production volumes of high-quality pellets and hot briquetted iron, a premium metallised product.
Metalloinvest maintains partnerships with international suppliers and global leaders in their sectors including Midrex, Danieli, SMS and Tenova. The Company also uses a wide array of Russian design and engineering solutions, in this way supporting the development of domestic scientific innovation. Metalloinvest owns the scientific and innovation organisations Gipromez and TOREX, which develop technologies for the iron ore and steel sectors. Specialists from Gipromez developed the design and budget documentation for HBI-3 plant, the key facility in Metalloinvest’s investment programme, as well as for several other projects, including the reduction and calibration section at OEMK, and Roller Treatment Furnace #1 at Ural Steel.
Sergey Kretov, Managing Director, Mikhailovsky GOK, added: “Specialists from TOREX developed and carried out all engineering measures at pellet plant #3, working in collaboration with the engineering and technical staff at Mikhailovsky GOK.”
Metalloinvest helps to support the development of the human resources potential in the regions in which it operates, by providing assistance for the development of professional colleges and supporting regional WorldSkills competitions. In 2018, with the participation of the Company, the creation of Kvantorium', a children's science park in Zheleznogorsk, is planned.back to news list
