Ural Steel confirms compliance with international and sector standards
Ural Steel (part of Metalloinvest) has successfully undergone a recertification audit for its active integrated management system (IMS). Auditors from the certification bodies Bureau Certification Russia (Moscow) and Pronap (Chelyabinsk) confirmed the ICM's compliance with international and sector standards during their comprehensive review.
As part of the unified integrated management system developed with the PAS 99 standard as a basis for its integration, the comprehensive review focused on three areas: quality management (ISO 9001:2015), environmental management (ISO 14001:2015) and occupational health and safety management (OHSAS 18001:2007).
The auditors also conducted a certification audit of Ural Steel's current quality management system for compliance with the STO Gazprom 9001-2012 standard as part of the INTERGAZSERT system. Ural Steel confirmed compliance with the requirements of SDS INTERGAZSERT for the first time and was evaluated highly in this voluntary certification system.
The success of this inspection will enable Ural Steel to expand its mechanical production and sales certification. The enterprise can recertify its production and sales of cast weighting agents for pig iron rings, which it supplies to a unit of Gazprom.
Marina Khmel, head of the audit commission and a representative of the international certifying body Bureau Veritas Certification, commented: "The comprehensive examination programme has been carried out in full. The extensive information provided by Ural Steel meets all criteria contained in our audit. We have provided our recommendations on filling in technological documentation to the mechanical unit, whose production volumes are currently being increased. This will help the department reach the strong production culture that we observed in the enterprises' other units. We have also identified ten areas of improvement, which confirms the efforts of Ural Steel's departments and the high level of internal audits. We are grateful for the assistance of Ural Steel's management team and specialists, and we hope that our recommendations will facilitate the further development of the enterprise."
The commission will recommend to the certifying bodies that Ural Steel should be awarded certificates of compliance.
The systems for quality management, environmental protection, and occupational health and safety at Metalloinvest's enterprises have been certified in line with international standards, and regularly confirm their compliance with control, oversight, and recertification audits. The enterprises' certificates confirm the high-quality organisation of their production and environmental activities, and their comprehensive approach to occupational health and safety.back to news list
